1. Protein-Packed Snack Plate: Egg, Turkey & Cheese

This one is my no-fail, post-class snack. It’s got protein, fat, and a little salt—just what I need to feel satisfied without reaching for sugar

What you need:

  • 1 hard-boiled egg
  • 3–4 turkey slices
  • 4–5 cheese squares

How to throw it together:
Slice the egg, roll up the turkey, and lay out the cheese. Keep it simple. Eat straight off the cutting board if you’re between Zoom sessions (I do).

2. Hard Boiled Eggs and Cucumber Slices

On those days I’ve been cueing core work for hours, this is my reset button. Hydrating, cooling, and packed with protein.

What you need:

  • 2 hard-boiled eggs
  • 1 cucumber
  • Salt & pepper (optional)

How to make it happen:
Slice both the eggs and cucumbers, season if you like. It’s fresh, filling, and ridiculously easy.

3. Frozen Banana Bites

These feel like dessert but don’t mess with your blood sugar. Perfect after an evening class when I want something sweet but balanced.

What you need:

  • 1 banana
  • 2 tbsp peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips

How to do it:
Make banana sandwiches with peanut butter, freeze them, then dip in melted dark chocolate. I keep a stash in the freezer for when cravings hit.

4. Greek Yogurt with Fresh Berries

If I’ve got a morning break between privates, this is what I reach for. The protein keeps me going and the berries add a pop of natural sweetness.

What you need:

  • 1 cup nonfat Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup fresh berries
  • 1 tsp honey (optional)

How to build it:
Scoop the yogurt into a bowl, add berries, drizzle honey if you need a little extra. Stir, enjoy, move on with your day.

5. Apple Slices with Almond Butter

This one’s been with me since teacher training. It’s reliable, energizing, and gives me that crisp bite I crave after long mat sessions.

What you need:

  • 1 apple
  • 2 tbsp almond butter
  • Cinnamon (optional)

How to prep it:
Slice the apple, spread with almond butter, sprinkle cinnamon if you’re feeling extra. I eat this on the studio floor between classes.

6. Homemade Multi-Seed Crackers

Okay, these are a weekend prep thing—but so worth it. Crunchy, protein-rich, and they hold up well in my bag.

What you need:

  • 1/4 cup each: chia seeds, pepitas, sesame seeds, cooked quinoa
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Salt (optional)

How to make them:
Mix everything and let it sit for 10 minutes. Spread on parchment, bake at 325°F for 25–30 minutes. Break into pieces and store in a jar for the week.

7. Peanut Butter and Celery Sticks

I call this the “studio classic.” It’s quick, doesn’t need refrigeration for a couple of hours, and hits that salty-sweet combo.

What you need:

  • 3 celery stalks
  • 3 tbsp peanut butter

How to serve it up:
Cut celery into sticks and load ’em up with peanut butter. Keep some in a container for busy teaching days.

8. Fresh Veggies with Hummus

This is my default snack during long workshop weekends. Easy to pack, crunchy, and the hummus gives me that plant-based protein boost I need.

What you need:

  • 1 cup hummus
  • 1 carrot, 1 cucumber, 1 bell pepper, 1 celery stalk
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes

How to pull it together:
Slice everything up. Scoop the hummus into a bowl or container and snack your way through it.

9. Buffalo Cauliflower Bites

These are for when I really want something flavorful. They feel indulgent but are totally balanced and loaded with fiber.

What you need:

  • 1 small head cauliflower
  • 1/4 cup almond butter
  • 1/4 cup whole wheat pastry flour
  • 2 tbsp nutritional yeast
  • 1/2 cup hot sauce

How to make them:
Toss the florets in the almond butter mix, bake until crispy, then coat with hot sauce. Serve with a side of ranch or Greek yogurt dip.

10. Cottage Cheese and Cherry Tomatoes

If I’m short on time and need something savory, this is it. Protein-rich, refreshing, and takes zero effort.

What you need:

  • 1/2 cup cottage cheese
  • 1/2 cup cherry tomatoes
  • Cracked pepper or fresh herbs (optional)

How to throw it together:
Scoop cottage cheese into a bowl, add tomatoes, top with herbs if you like. Done and done.

Mindful Snacking Tips

Mindful snacking has seriously changed the way I eat. It’s not just about the food—it’s about how you eat it. First, check in with your body. Are you hungry or just bored? I’ve definitely snacked out of habit before.

Pick snacks that actually fuel you, like fresh fruit with almond butter or veggies with hummus. They taste great and keep you energized.Watch your portion sizes. I love a good snack, but oversized portions can sneak up fast.

Take your time and enjoy each bite, especially when you need a quick mental reset. Avoid distractions like TV or scrolling while snacking—it’s so much more satisfying when you focus on your food.

Planning ahead is a game-changer. I keep healthy snacks prepped so I’m never scrambling.

And don’t be afraid to get creative with snack combos. It makes snacking more exciting! Mindful snacking is about making choices that nourish your body and satisfy your cravings.

The Benefits of Sugar-Free Snacking

Cutting back on added sugar made a huge difference for my energy. No more crashes after snacks—just steady energy all day. Snacks like Greek yogurt with berries or celery with peanut butter give you that sweet-salty fix without messing with your blood sugar.
